Housing Precarity Literature review

Research by Julie Aitken (2021)

This literature review was conducted as part of the research development of a housing precarity definition and measurement. It sought to understand how housing precarity is conceptualised, and identify the factors that form the assemblage of housing precarity.

As a result of this review, I propose that housing precarity is the assemblage of 4 factors:

  • Affordability

  • Quality

  • Security

  • Access to services and culture

The literature review outlines work that explores housing precarity as an assemblage of factors, alongside work that looks at the above singular measures of precarity.
